Indian education board CBSE claims to use Blockchain to secure board exam results

The national level board of education in India - Central Board of Secondary Education in collaboration with Centre of Excellence for BlockChain Technology of National Informatics Centre claims to have developed a system to provide CBSE Board Results, other academic documents on Blockchain Technology. The website named Academic {BlockChain} Documents where all the academic documents can be accessed online through the official site of cbse.certchain.nic.in

As per the statement released by the Board, CBSE has made available the digitally signed certificates of Class X and XII for years 2019-2021 and will gradually push the certificates of previous years in the coming months.  Upon issuance of new certificates by CBSE, the digitally signed certificates will be sent to the BlockChain based system creating an additional secure link. All users including students, educational institutions, employers can use the website.

The steps to view result is similar to the conventional result website provided by CBSE. Students have to fill basic details & roll number to access their result. The result documents have a qr code, which contains a link with signed parameters that can be used to view/verify the results without entering any details later. However, from the data/information that is available on website it is unclear how the result is tamperproof and how public at large can verify that result have not been modified.

Nonetheless, this is a big step to future and will motivate other government/private organization to use blockchain technology. We will update this space as soon as more details are available.
